As you can see, I haven't been posting a lot about fashion lately. I guess that is due in part to the fact that I have been sitting in the same place since last week finishing up the sketches for my Spring/Summer 2011 collection. When you are spending 18 hours a day thinking only about fashion, sometimes it's nice to switch things up a bit, hence why this is a fashion AND lifestyle blog. Mainly, it's for sanity purposes.

We have some great stuff going on over here at Jack Germain Handbags and I can't wait to share it all with you, my loyal followers, in the future. Until then I will keep you entertained with all things fashion and non-fashion. Like this movie, Catfish, which I had never heard about until today because I was invited to go to a screening tomorrow night. Supposedly this movie was a big hit at Sundance and after watching the trailer, I just have to see what happens.

FALL 2010 TRENDS: SHINY ACCESSORIES

While creating this post I couldn't get R.E.M.'S "Shiny Happy People" out of my head. And the second I did, "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" came in. I've talked about my love for sparkly accessories before because I think it's amazing that you can pair them with a t-shirt and jeans and somehow look all dolled up. TETRIS TILES

As you know, I am trying to make my blog a bit more "man friendly". Well, I think this is the best compromise I've ever come up with that is equal parts male and female. Tetris tiles for your kitchen backsplash. Colors too girly? Well, they come in just about any color under the sun. I don't know about you, but I think these would make cooking tofu panang curry a lot more fun. And we can only hope that one day they decide to make little pill shaped tiles ala Dr. Mario. Now THAT would be awesome.

I love reporting on new brands, but I am truly honored to be writing about a label that was created by a lifelong friend. Feltraiger (pronounced FEL-TRAY-GER) was launched a year ago by my good friend Daniel Feldman. Since our time spent together in the 4th grade, I have seen Dan succeed in the music industry as the lead singer of several bands, dabble in photography, writing, film and most recently designing. And just like all of the conquests that came before, Dan executes his new line with the precision and care that only someone with immense passion can.

If the Jack Germain girl had a boyfriend, it would be Feltraiger- and it's not hard to see why. Slim cut plaid button downs and organic cotton t-shirts are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this small well tailored collection. Several of the t-shirts are hand distressed and have that worn out appeal that we love and bare witty logos like "smoke cigarettes". And if shirtless tattooed guys are your thing, well they have that too. My favorite piece from the collection though is the Ivan, an olive colored canvas jacket with buttery caramel accents throughout. I would say that this is the type of thing you would want to steal from your boyfriend, but come to think about it, you may want to steal it all.

This isn't the first time I've had this conversation. In fact, I have this exact conversation at least once a week with one of my guy friends. I should probably mention that I have significantly more guy friends than girls, so it is slightly unfair that I write so much about girl related fashion. And here I thought that I was satisfying them with fashion forward pictures of half naked girls when all they really wanted was some stylish men's clothing.

I have always associated boat shoes with my dad, which is probably why I've always loved them. And while I grew up with the classic brown leather topsider, they now come in an array of styles and colors. Behold the Sperry wool boat shoe. This simple idea helped convert the definitive summer shoe to a hot piece of footwear that can be worn well through the fall. And to really prove that I'm hearin it for the boys (Cameron loves my bad puns), these aren't even available for women. I know, don't even get me started..
